All the data provided here are in ESRI shapefile format, compressed into zip files.
Edgecombe County does not use ESRI (ArcGIS, ArcView, ArcInfo, etc.) for our GIS applications, but as it is the most common format for data requests, it is what we are making available. Edgecombe County staff will not be able to assist you with any questions you may have about how to use shapefiles or any of the programs which can use them. These files are posted with the intent that they will be used by trained GIS users.

The data is made available without charge for download. Any special data requests may involve a charge for setup time and media costs. Please read the data disclaimer below.

Edgecombe County Cadastral Data were prepared for the inventory of real property found within its jurisdiction. They were complied from recorded deeds, plats, and other public records and data. Users of these data are hereby notified that the aforementioned public primary information sources should be consulted for verification of the information contained in the data. edgeparcel.zip

taxdata.zip contains the most recent tax database dump in Microsoft Excel (.xls) format. Also included are a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet listing subdivisions, subdivision codes, and associated plats. Lastly, there is an Adobe .pdf document explaining the fields in the tax database and giving explanations of various codes used. (4.03MB, Current as of 1/20/07.)

roads.zip contains the shapefile of the County's street centerlines with address ranges. Streets in the Town of Princeville and some areas inside the Rocky Mount ETJ do not have finalized address ranges, but in most cases show the approximate range of existing addresses. districts.zip contains shapefiles of administrative district boundaries within the county, including: municipalities, ETJs, Townships, Fire, Rescue, and Water Districts. (253 kb, current as of 1/27/05)

election.zip contains shapefiles of elections districts within the county, including precincts, polling places, county commissioner districts, school board districts, and City/Town Wards for Rocky Mount, Tarboro, and Princeville. (196 kb, current as of 6/13/05).

schools.zip contains shapefiles showing the location of schools and attendance districts for Edgecombe County Schools. (26 kb, current as of 1/27/05)

• All digital data provided here are in ESRI Shapefile format. The projection is NC State Plane Coordinate System (3200) NAD 83 datum in units of US Survey Feet.
• FGDC-compliant metadata will be posted to this site as it is completed.
• Aerial photography not yet available for download. Aerial photography from various years and at various resolutions are available for purchase on CD-R from the Mapping Office
